You closed your eyes and let the waves
carry you out to sea.
The undertow ran overhead as you slipped away from me.
You held your breath and looked away
as you pulled back your hands.
The fathoms embraced you and dragged you to the sand.
Your scars were soft and your eyes aflame.
The breeze kissed at your skin to the sound of the waves.
Drifting off through the fog...
Six years on, and I'm still here.
Six years on, and you've reappeared.
Drifting off through the fog...
One day we would find our way
and walk side by side.
We'd laugh at all our failures and toss wishes to the tide.
Long from now we'd wake one day
to raindrops on the eaves,
the cool light embracing us as we lay there and dream.
The sea was calm.
The silence stretched on.
Six years on, and all that's left...
Six years on, and here I am
drifting off through the fog.
If I could see you now,
what would I say?
You are just a memory--
unreal and washed away.
There was a time when we had no doubts--
the world stretched forever on, and nothing faded out.
There was a time when you gave yourself to me--
your hands were trembling gently, while I could hardly breathe.
There was a time when all was in its place,
but then the glow was gone-- the moment erased.
I first saw them a year later at the Moonloop launch in London with Kava Kava. PT played on ground level with the audience of about 60. These early recordings are where it all started. Stoked :)) matt1098
